Marico to rejig kaya biz plan

Marico had launched Kaya skin clinics in June 2002, with the first store in Mumbai. The company has 84 stores in 27 cities in India and 15 stores in 9 cities in the Middle East and one clinic in Bangladesh. Now, Marico has called a halt to the expansion plans of its services business, Kaya Skin clinics in India and is currently reworking the business strategy.

That the needs of particular community in terms of their food or religious purchases will be the same irrespective of their bank balance. Cashing in on this premise, the Future Group is exploring a bottoms-up approach to reach the heart of local communities. The group is now setting up a first of its kind community/family shopping format in Malleswaram in Bangalore.

Ritu Wears to diversify to home furnishings, expand to smaller cities

Delhi-based lifestyle, fashion brand Ritu Wears is planning to invest around Rs 230 crore over the next four years as a part of its expansion plan across India. It's looking to open 33 large format stores and getting into home furnishings in a big way. "We are increasing our home business. It's a core product for us. We are opening independent home stores in Tier II cities and metros," says Samir Sahni, Director, JDS Apparels, the makers of Ritu Wears.

Titan to set up watch assembly facility

Titan Industries, which produces personal accessories like watches, jewellery, sunglasses and prescription eye wear, is set to open a new watch assembly facility in Pantnagar in Uttarakhand. The facility could start operations by February or March 2010. Holding a 68 per cent market share in the organised watch market in India, the company is looking to extend its retail presence in the country. It is making plans to add 10 Helios stores in the next 12 months.

JumboKing to increase 'vada-pav' prices

The increasing prices of food items has forced Mumbai-based 'vada paav' kiosk chain JumboKing to increase its menu prices by 15 per cent. JumboKing adds every new sub categories in their 'vada paav' menu every three-four months but is taking cautious steps in this direction.

Amul set to tea off

Now, Amul will hold a complete sway over your morning breakfast by launching a tea brand as well.Some member unions of the Rs 6,711-crore Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets the Amul brand, already sell tea at concessional rates to their milk producers.
