Pantaloon sees demand doubling this festive season

The first six months may not be good for lifestyle retailers but Pantaloon Retail expects this to change with the upcoming festive season. Pantaloon is expecting the demand this festive season to double than what it expected last year, it plans to bring in two crore units of apparels to its warehouses versus 1.1 crore units last year.


Mothercare, Shoppers may part ways

Mothercare, the UK-based retailer for kids and mothers to be, may soon end its exclusive franchise agreement with Shoppers Stop to sell products in India, two people familiar with the development said.


Pantaloon ends JV with Planet Retail, Blue Foods

Pantaloon Retail India Limited (Pril) has decided to terminate its joint venture (JV) with Planet Retail Holdings. The company has also terminated its JV with Blue Foods, which runs restaurant chains such as Bombay Blue, Noodle Bar and Copper Chimney.

Very early trends posted by retailers across various categories indicate that they have seen a marginal 7-8% growth in sales in May 2009 compared to April 2009 apart from upsides on average bill value (ABV) and footfalls.
