Future Group aims to be $ 3 bn retailer by '11

Kishore Biyani-owned Future Group aims to become a $ 3 billion plus group by 2011, covering a retail space of 17 million sq ft. Currently, all formats of Future Group together cover a retail space of 14 million sq ft, generating business of nearly $ 2 billion, said Biyani.
RPG in Talks to Sell Spencer's Retail Stake

RPG Enterprises Ltd. is in "advanced" talks with private-equity companies for selling a stake in its retail venture, Spencer's Retail Ltd., at a time when a rebound in consumer demand is spurring retail operators to seek funds for expansion. RPG Enterprises Vice Chairman, Sanjiv Goenka said that a transaction would depend on "right valuations" and "right conditions," without specifying the amount of stake the group is planning to sell or the price it is looking for.
Big Bazaar IPO shelved, says Biyani

Kishore Biyani-controlled Future Group seems to have shelved its plans to go for an initial public offer (IPO) for its flagship value retail business, Big Bazaar. The value retail businesses Big Bazaar and Food Bazaar were hived off into a separate company, Future Value Retail, some time ago, and an IPO had been one option to raise funds for Big Bazaar.
HDIL pre-leases retail space to Future Group

The real estate company HDIL, which is developing Metropolis Tower at Mumbai suburb, has agreed to pre-lease the entire retail space to Future Group. Both the companies have entered into an agreement thatwill allow Future Group to use 10% of over one million square feet mixed use development that features retail, entertainment, hospitality and office spaces.

Haagen-Dazs may scoop up more Indian cities

Two months after whipping up a storm over its invitation to 'holders of international passports' for an exclusive preview of its Haagen-Dazs ice-cream store in New Delhi, General Mills, the company that owns the brand, has put the episode firmly behind it. It is now evaluating prospects of taking the premium ice-cream to more metro cities in the country. At the moment, Haagen-Dazs is available in select five-star hotels and retail outlets in Mumbai and Delhi only.
